THE FOUNDATION...

THE MOST IMPORTANT DATES....

The Club has been established on January 6, 1960. (the founder Mr.Milorad Gacina) in Logavina 2 str. It's name was «Iskra» and had 33 members.
The first great success has been achieved on September 22, 1974, when Chess Club «Bosna» qualified (between the best 10 clubs) to the 1. Chess League of ex-Yugoslavia (SFR Yugoslavia).
Since July 15, 1976, the Club is working under the name «Bosna». Since then, many historical results has been achieved in the national and international events.

THE WINNER OF THE EUROPEAN CLUB CUP

• LYON 1994.
Players: Gary Kasparov, Ivan Sokolov (captain), Predrag Nikolic, Smbat Lputian, Zurab Azmaiparashvilli, Bojan Kurajica and Emir Dizdarevic
• BUGOJNO 1999:
Players: Evgeny Bareev, Veselin Topalov, Ivan Sokolov (captain), Jeroen Piket, Zdenko Kozul, Bojan Kurajica. Reserves: Emir Dizdarevic and Zeljko Galic.
• NEUM 2000.
Players: Evgeny Bareev, Kiril Georgiev, Sergei Movsesian, Ivan Sokolov (captain), Zdenko Kozul, Bojan Kurajica and Emir Dizdarevic.

After winning of this title, the trophy goes in permanent possession of CC «Bosna».

• KHALITHEA 2002.
Players: Michael Adams, Alexei Shirov, Ivan Sokolov (captain), Sergei Movsesian, Teimour Radjabov, Zdenko Kozul. Reserve: Bojan Kurajica and Emir Dizdarevic.
THE MOST IMPORTANT SUCCESSES – TEAM'S

• THE WINNER OF THE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA/BiH (MEN): 1970, 1973, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002. and 2003. (when they played, they won).
• THE WINNER OF THE CLUB CUP OF BiH (MEN): 1975, 1976, 1981, 1982, 1987, 1990, 1996, 1997, 1998 (2nd in tie-break), 1999, 2000. and 2001.
• THE WINNER OF THE CUP «MARSHAL TITO» of ex-Yugoslavia: 1979, 1987. and 1990.
- 2nd-3rd place – since 1983. untill 1986.
- 2nd place – 1988.
- 4-6th place – 1989.
- 3rd-5th place – 1991.
• THE WINNER OF THE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP OF BiH (WOMEN): 1996, 1997, 1998. and 1999.
• THE WINNER OF THE CLUB CUP OF BiH (WOMEN): 1979, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1989, 1990 and 1991.
• THE WINNER OF THE CLUB CUP OF YUGOSLAVIA (WOMEN): 1978, 1984. and 1985.
• 2nd PLACE in II Chess League of Yugoslavia (12 clubs) when the Club qualified to I Chess League in Porec 1974.
• 1st PLACE in II Chess League of Yugoslavia in Pula 1978 (and coming back to I Chess League)
• 1st PLACE in I Chess League of Yugoslavia 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1990. and 1991.
• 2nd PLACE in I Chess League of Yugoslavia: 1980. and 1982; 3rd place: 1988, 4th place: 1981; 5th place: 1989.
THE SYMBOLS OF CC BOSNA

Since the establishment, the Club has it's own flag. The Club's symbol is the chess-figure: ROOK. The colour is dark red.
Since August 15, 1984, the Club has it's own badge (author: Milorad Gacina). «The Song of 'Bosna'» exsists since 1978, partly inovated 1999.

Here are some books which have been published by the Club:
«Tako se igrao Kozomara» (author: Dimitrije Bjelica, co-authors: Jovo Doslo and Milorad Gacina), edited 1984.
«CC 'Bosna' – The Champion of Yugoslavia» (author: Milorad Gacina) 1985.
The monography «25 years of CC 'Bosna'» (author: Milorad Gacina, who is also the writer of the Chess reference book «The Chess Education») I edit 1975, II edit 1987.

THE INTERNATIONAL CHESS TOURNAMENTS AND CHESS SCHOOL
Since 1978. Chess Club «Bosna» is the organiser of the traditional international chess tournaments high ranked. The club's all-time school has worked since 1966, which brought up a lot of the playes known all over the world.
