PRIMARY SCHOOL «HRASNO» IS THE BEST

 

 

 

 

Dec. 21, 2003

On Friday, December 19, 2003, Team Championship for Primary Schools in Municipality Novo Sarajevo is held. The Championship is played in International Center for children and youth – Grbavica. The Director Mr. Mirsad Catic has wished fair play and luck to all participants and opened the Championship.
In Municipality Novo Sarajevo there are seven primary schools. Six of them participated with 10 teams: School «Hrasno» - 4 teams, School «Grbavica I» - 2 teams, the rest – 1 team.
The Championship played on 4 boards: 3 boys + 1 girl.
After 5 Robin Rounds the order is as follows:
1. place: School «Hrasno» - I team with 13,5 points
2. place: School «Grbavica I» - I team, 12 points
3. place: School «Hrasno» - II team, 11,5 points
4. place: School «Hrasno» - III team, 11,5 points
5. place: School «Hrasno» - IV team, 11,5 points
6. place: School «Grbavica II», 11 points
7. place: School «Malta», 9,5 points
8. place: School «Pofalici», 8,5 points
9. place: School «Velesicki heroji», 7 points
10. place: School «Grbavica I» - II team, 4 points.

The Championship is played as one of the activities of Chess Project «Play Chess for Better Future». The members of Chess Club “Bosna” supported the organization.
Three the best-ranged teams won the trophies, the book «40 years of Chess Club 'Bosna'» and «sweet» gift-boxes of Conditorei Factory «Kras».
The most successful players on boards won the special awards – chess literature. On the 1. board there were three players with 4 points: Juric Goran (School «Malta»), Hasovic Haris

 

 

 

 

 

 

OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN SARAJEVO CANTON – GIRLS/BOYS

 

Dec. 15, 2003

On Saturday, December 13, 2003, Open Championship for Primary Schools in Sarajevo Canton – Girls/Boys took place in Social Center «Hermann Gmeiner» - SOS Kinderdorf. The pupils played in 3 groups: girls, boys from 1. to 4. class, and boys from 5. to 8. class.
188 pupils of primary schools in Sarajevo Canton participated. After 7 Robin Rounds the winners are:
- Girls: Sabrina Zejnilagić from Primary school «Grbavica II» with 5,5 points
- Younger boys: Tarik Bašić with 6 points, from Primary school «Umihana Ćuvidina»
- Older boys: Dženis Sarajlić with 6,5 points, from Primary school «Hamdija Kreševljaković».
The best ranged won nice awards. The winners in three groups got medals, 2 trophies: one from chess friends from Iceland – Chess Club «Hrokurinn», the other from Chess School CC «Bosna». They also got chess computer «Mefisto», gift from Chess Club «Hrokurinn»/Iceland.
Next day, on Sunday, December 14, world youth champion – international master Borki Predojević played simulated match with 8 pupils and won 7:1. At the same time, the president of CC «Hrokurinn» Mr. Hrafn Jokulsson played simulated match with pupils on 10 boards and won 8:2. Fahrudin Halilović, who played against Jokulssen, achieved the only win. Halilovic has been joined to Chess School «Play Chess for Better Future» from the beginning of this project.
The perfect conditions in SOS – Kinderdorf Concert Hall and Arbiter's team headed by FIDE Arbiter Sead Bicevic, contributed to impeccable organization of both chess competitions.

OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN SARAJEVO CANTON

 

 

 

 

Dec.9,2003

Open Chess Championship for Primary Schools in Sarajevo Canton will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2003, 10 a.m. in Concert Hall of Social Center «Hermann Gmeiner» - SOS Kinderdorf, Semira Fraste str. bb (Mojmilo) - Sarajevo.

Nine (9) Robin rounds will be played, without using chess clock.

Participation in the Championship is open to all pupils of primary schools. The event will be played in three groups:
- girls
- boys from 1. to 4. class
- boys from 5. to 8. class

The winners in all groups will win the trophys and winner title of the Championship for 2003. Ten the best scored participants will get diplomas.

 

The next day, on Sunday, December 14, 10 a.m. mega-simultaned match will be held on 50 boards:
- on 25 boards: world youth champion for 2003. - International Master Borki Predojevic will play with 5 the most successful girls, 10 the most successful boys from 1. to 4. class and 10 the most successful boys from 5. to 8. class from primary schools;
- on 25 boards: International Master Zlatko Basagic and FIDE Master Senad Kamberovic will play alternative simultaned match

All expert's and technical care is on the Chess Club «Bosna», Social Center «Hermann Gmeiner» - SOS Kinderdorf Sarajevo, Chess Federation of Sarajevo Canton and proffesional team of Chess School «Play chess for better future».
 

CHESS SCHOOL AT GRBAVICA

The great interesting of youth for our Project Chess Play for better future is the reason why the new section will be formed. The training will be taken in renewed International Centre for Youth and Children (former House of Culture “Vaso Pelagic”).
The children will attend the school on Tuesdays and Saturdays, 2 x 90 min. Neven Jakupovic, Master of FIDE will be responsible for successful realisation of the training on this new location and will be helped by Zlatko Basagic, International Master – the headmaster, and his assistants Senad Kamberovic and Mirza Zerdo.
In this Centre, the Association Educating builds Bosnia and Herzegovina is active. Its executive director is Mr. Jovo Divjak – retired general, who is great chess friend. The meeting with Mr Divjak is agreed where school’s headmaster will talk with him about the possibility to provide cooperation and support of this Association.

On Monday, October 27, 2003, seventy Chess School students visited Coca-Cola HBC B-H (Hadzici), one of the most successful companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina today. Hospitable representatives and the children passed through the factory's sections. They explained to the children all about production of Coca-Cola - the most popular drink for young people.
The gifts were given to all young visitors.
Companies Centrotrans-DC and Centrotrans-Bu from Sarajevo provided for free transfer, by their buses, to Coca-Cola and back.

ONE MORE ROOM FOR THE SCHOOL

The Project Play chess for better future is realising and developing as it's creators wished, first of all Grand Master Ivan Sokolov. The foreseeing realised that preliminary destination in Chess Club Bosna will not be enough for training.
After visit to Social Centre SOS-Kinderdorf (Municipality Novi Grad), Mr.Basagic and Mr.Kamberovic visited Primary School Osman Nakas and talked to Mr. Srecko Zekic, Director. As agreed, the training of Chess School will be taken in nice room of this Primary School on Thursday's evening and Sunday's morning. The Coach is FM Senad Kamberovic.
It's important to say that this Project of Chess School incites great interest of the high officials in some institutions and they offer their help and wish chess education begining in their nearest neighbourhood.
Because of that, we are expecting, in nearer future , the begining of
training in Municipality Novo Sarajevo and it's parts Grbavica I and Grbavica II. The training will be taken in Youth Centre on Grbavica (former the House of Culture Vaso Pelagic).

THE SCHOOL AT THE NEW LOCATION

 

 

 

Oct. 23, 2003

SOS-KINDERDORF INTERNATIONAL – SOCIAL CENTRE «HERMAN GMEINER» SARAJEVO, located in Semira Fraste bb str. in Sarajevo, is the new partner of Project «Play chess for better future». The kind hostess from this Centre gave all their capacities to the Chess School on disposal. So, from Wednesday, October 29, that will be great help for the numerous pupils who live in Municipality Novi Grad – Sarajevo and in Center's neighborhood, because this location is nearer their schools and homes.
The training will be taken on Wednesdays and Sundays (2 x 4 hours weekly).


NTV HAYAT IN CHESS SCHOOL

On Sunday, October 19, 2003, the representatives of the Independent Television Hayat visited Chess School during the training.
The journalists made the interview with a great number of pupils who expressed their opinion about the training and the School in general.
All of them feel enthusiastic because of a possibility to learn playing the king's game, having a contact with the other young peoples, keeping company with them, playing chess for better future.
International Master Zlatko Basagic, the Headmaster, made use of this occasion to invite the pupils from primary schools to register to School, because the registration is still opened.

Chess Club Bosna organized press-conference on September 24 2003, before it's leaving to participate in XIX European Chess Club Cup. It was a right chance for the promotion of the new Project: PLAY CHESS FOR BETTER FUTURE.
After the press-conference Supervisor of the Project Grandmaster Ivan Sokolov, school's headmaster Zlatko Basagic, his assistant Senad Kamberovic and Director of Chess Club "Bosna" Mirza Miralem made Teaching Program.
